Plaça de les Teixidores, a key point for accessing Parc de Vallparadís from Avinguda de Jacquard, has suffered years of vandalism that repeatedly damaged its railing. These incidents, including broken glass from kicks or stones, not only generated unexpected repair costs for the municipality but also posed a risk to the safety of ramp users.
Given the recurring issues reported by residents, the municipal government has launched a comprehensive improvement project. The chosen solution was not repair but a complete replacement of the glass railing with a new metal structure, designed to be "more resistant and sustainable." Additionally, the handrails have been adapted and are now double to improve accessibility for more people.
The works are already underway. The Deputy Mayor for Territory and Housing, Xavier Cardona, visited the square as part of a tour of various municipal projects. The project also includes structural improvements to the adjacent wall, such as repairing the cladding, replacing protective elements, and adapting the granite stone pavement.
This project has a budget of 79,998.57 euros (including VAT) and an estimated execution period of 12 weeks, marking a step forward in the safety and quality of Terrassa's public spaces.
