The Terrassa City Council is set to approve a modification of the Municipal Urban Planning Plan (POUM) during the February plenary session to encourage the renovation of buildings for healthcare use.

The local government aims to fix current regulatory inconsistencies that prevented medical facilities from opening in certain areas. This change will allow the transformation of abandoned industrial buildings into healthcare centers, boosting the local economy in Terrassa.

"The goal is to adapt the planning to the current economic reality."

Regarding funeral services, the new rules restrict these facilities to isolated industrial zones. A minimum distance of 150 meters from residential and commercial areas will be required, increasing to 200 meters for facilities equipped with crematoriums.
The update also includes regulations for modern services such as EV charging stations, logistics hubs, and veterinary centers, while incorporating updated safety protocols for chemical and flood risks.
