The traditional celebration, considered one of the most significant events in Sabadell's calendar, attracted a large crowd, demonstrating the city's adaptability. The event blended elements of tradition and culture, filling the streets near the Sabadell City Council with various activities.
“"We had to rethink everything, but nothing had to be canceled."
From the giant parade in the early morning, the festive atmosphere was palpable, with the participation of various collaborating entities and numerous families. Many residents highlighted the importance of tradition, with some even taking time off work to enjoy the day with their loved ones.
After a previous weekend marked by unstable weather, which forced the cancellation of some activities, the day of the Aplec enjoyed good climatic conditions, allowing the entire planned program to proceed. In addition to activities in Plaça de Sant Roc and its surroundings, complementary proposals were offered in other parts of the city, such as guided tours of the Torre de l'Aigua, exhibitions, and concerts.
“"We were very clear that we had to maintain the activities, even if it couldn't be celebrated where we normally do, and so it was."
The day included traditional celebrations, such as the parade, which saw hundreds of active participants and thousands of spectators. Cultural entities agreed that, although the surroundings of the Sanctuary have a more traditional meaning, the pandemic had already taught the importance of adapting to circumstances. The solemn mass, led by the Bishop of the Diocese of Terrassa, filled the Church of Sant Fèlix with faithful, who wanted to be part of one of the most multitudinous religious celebrations of the year.
