Esteve Sala, former president of the Catalan Parkinson's Association in Sant Cugat, died at the age of 85 on Friday, January 16, after dedicating years to raising awareness of the disease.

Sala, born in Girona in 1940, dedicated many years of his life to fighting for better lives for Parkinson's patients, their families, and caregivers, particularly in Sant Cugat.

"An enchanting person who was president of the Parkinson's association in Sant Cugat, an entity that works through volunteering to improve the quality of life of those suffering from this disease and their families."

Josep Maria Vallès · Mayor of Sant Cugat
A chemist by profession, he was diagnosed with the disease at 65, coinciding with his retirement. It was then that he became heavily involved in raising awareness of the illness and demanding more attention and resources.
His work was recognized in 2011 when the Sant Cugat delegation of the Associació Catalana del Parkinson, under his leadership, received the prestigious Premi Ciutat de Sant Cugat 2011.
