The Festa Major of Les Fonts will be celebrated from Thursday, October 1st to Sunday, October 4th, with a program designed for all ages. The cultural, sports, family, and traditional activities are organized by the neighborhood's entities, with the collaboration of the town councils of Sant Quirze del Vallès and Terrassa.
The kickoff will be on Thursday, October 1st, with the inauguration of patchwork, crochet, wool, and lace exhibitions at the Centre Cívic Torre Julià. At 8 PM, the highlight will be the opening speech, delivered by David Caballero Alonso, known as “Dez”, a UX designer and musician, and a resident of Les Fonts. The day will conclude with the performance of Sala d’espera, by the company Apedaçats, at the same civic center.
On Friday, the festival continues with new cultural and family offerings, including the inauguration of the exhibition Pintors i pintores de Les Fonts al llarg del temps, a chocolate tasting, a skate workshop, and masterclasses in yoga, zumba, and sevillanas. In the evening, the Correfoc dels Diables de Sant Quirze will parade through the neighborhood streets, followed by music from La Nit Vibra. Fontfest, featuring a session by local DJs.
Saturday will be an intense day with the Trobada de Puntaires (Lace Makers' Gathering), the Trobada de Les Fonts Abriga (Les Fonts Hugs Gathering), and traditional games. The Gegants de Les Fonts (Giant figures of Les Fonts) will visit nursing homes. At Can Falguera, there will be the literary vermouth Els fantasmes de Can Falguera and the Vermut del Barri. In the afternoon, the family race El barri corre, Les Fonts vibra will take place, and the Tarda Canalla (Children's Afternoon) for kids and teenagers will feature human foosball, inflatables, and giant chess. The day will end with an outdoor dinner, karaoke, and a performance by Toni Torres.
On Sunday, October 4th, tradition takes center stage with the Artisans and Second-hand Fair, the parade of the Colla Gegantera de Les Fonts, the Festa Major mass, and a batukada drum performance. The gastronomic day will include a paella demonstration and tasting. In the afternoon, El Tardeig de Festa Major will offer music from the 80s and 90s.
The grand finale of the Festa Major will be at 8:45 PM at the Pont Nou with a fireworks display. The program will continue on October 7th with a mass in honor of Mare de Déu del Roser, the patron saint of Les Fonts, and on October 12th with the traditional Popular Walk ending with a botifarrada (sausage meal).
During Saturday night, the sports court will also host a Punt Lila (Purple Point), an information and support service to prevent and detect situations of sexist violence and LGTBIQ-phobia in nightlife venues.
