The Department of Education has confirmed the removal of one first-year ESO group at the Mont Perdut Institute in Terrassa for the 2026-2027 term, citing a demographic decline in the area.

School planning for the upcoming years has sparked debate in the city. While a proposed cut to an I3 primary group in Zone 1 was eventually withdrawn, the reduction in secondary education in Zone 3 remains. The Mont Perdut center will be the only one affected by this specific measure.
The school community has expressed its opposition, arguing that the cut will not necessarily lead to smaller class sizes but will definitely reduce public education options. They also pointed out that the center frequently handles late enrollments throughout the school year.
Critics of the decision are calling for more dialogue between the Generalitat and local educational authorities to ensure that planning reflects the reality of the neighborhoods rather than just statistical trends.
