The arrest occurred around 1:00 PM, after the police's Drone Unit detected a person breaking into cars using the smash-and-grab method. At the time, the industrial estate was full of vehicles parked for the Catalan MotoGP Grand Prix held at the Circuit de Catalunya.
Several Mossos patrols were mobilized and located the alleged perpetrator, who had been tracked by drones throughout. Upon stopping the vehicle he was driving, officers found black gloves on the passenger seat that appeared to have been recently used, along with a metal drill bit, a common tool for breaking car windows. Several backpacks, suitcases, and electronic equipment were also seized.
During the search of the area, officers found four vehicles with broken windows. The detainee, who has several prior police records, was brought before the on-duty court in Granollers on Monday. This operation was part of the security measures implemented by the Mossos around the Circuit for the sporting event.
