The event, organized by the Confederació d’Horticultura Ornamental de Catalunya (CHOC), honored dedication to gardening and urban greenery. The municipality has been part of the Viles Florides network since May 2025, and a specialized jury visited the town in mid-2026 to assess its green space management.
Councilor Antoni Guil attended the gala, where the initial actions taken in Montmeló to enhance vegetation and public spaces were positively evaluated. This recognition highlights the municipality's efforts to become a more pleasant and healthy place for its residents.
Viles Florides are those towns and cities that stand out for their real, conscious, and long-term action in landscaping, urban scenery, and improving the quality of life for their inhabitants.
The Viles Florides initiative aims to transform Catalonia and Andorra through green spaces, valuing the country's natural and landscape richness through landscaping projects and improvements in public and private areas. Currently, 137 Catalan municipalities and the first Andorran parishes are part of this network, with a specialized jury annually certifying the distinctions.
