The ordinary October plenary session, held on Thursday the 8th, began with a minute of silence in memory of a resident of Montornès who passed away during the previous weekend's floods. These floods severely affected the municipality, causing the Mogent river and the Vallromanes stream to overflow. The City Council and residents are currently engaged in recovering affected areas.
Modified tender bases for the allocation of 40 social housing units for rent on Vallromanes street were approved. These modifications do not alter the applicant requirements but rather the publication methods and response channels for potential appeals. The Catalan Housing Agency has delegated the publication of applicant lists and the handling of appeals to the City Council.
The Local Plan for the Elderly was also approved, establishing strategic lines for medium and long-term social policies. The plan includes five action areas: care and support; community support and prevention of loneliness; active aging and participation; accessible environment and public space; and information and access to administration. This plan was supported by Montornès en Comú, PSC, and PP, with FEM Montornès and ERC abstaining.
In conjunction with Elderly Month, the manifesto for the International Day of Older Persons was read. Additionally, the City Council will join the S21 Foundation of the Consorci de Salut i Atenció Social de Catalunya, with a budget modification of 3,000 euros for the management of the Home Care Service. This integration was supported by Montornès en Comú, PSC, and ERC, opposed by FEM Montornès, and abstained by the PP.
Other agreements include a 25,000 € budget modification from treasury surplus for the extension of the municipal building cleaning service, approved with votes from Montornès en Comú and ERC. The return of the guarantee for the street cleaning contract to the previous contractor, CLD Servicios Urbanos de Tratamiento de Residuos, was also approved with the mayor's casting vote.
The session concluded with a control session for governing bodies and public participation. The full video of the session will be available on the City Council's YouTube Channel.
