The event, organized within the framework of the 5th Water Table, aims to introduce this new municipal planning instrument designed to guarantee water supply and address potential drought episodes. The presentation will feature Mayor Pol Cabutí and Joan Parte, CASSA Group's manager for Vallès.
During the session, the public will be informed about the Plan's main contents, its objectives, and the measures planned to ensure the continuity of potable water supply in the municipality. This Emergency Plan details water management according to different drought scenarios, following the guidelines of the Special Drought Plan (PES) and the Catalan Water Agency (ACA).
Key objectives of the Plan include ensuring priority supply to the population, establishing saving and restriction mechanisms, defining allocations for each scenario, and reducing the vulnerability of the system. The importance of communication and transparency with citizens, as well as shared responsibility in water use, is also highlighted.
The document, drafted with the support of CASSA and a specialized company, considers the characteristics of the local supply system, which includes a meshed network, four control zones, and fifteen sectors, with primary supply from own intakes and emergency resources like water tankers. The most drastic measures, such as sectoral cuts, are contemplated as a last resort.
The Drought Emergency Plan was unanimously approved by the Municipal Plenary in September and is currently open for public inspection for 45 days. The presentation on October 13th will be an opportunity to resolve doubts and inform about the planned actions.
