The presentation took place on November 4th, within the framework of the international fair for innovation and smart cities. Mayor Pol Cabutí participated in a round table organized by the Barcelona Provincial Council, where he detailed the planned actions. These include network sectorization and pressure regulation, the installation of 105 leak detection devices, and the remote reading of 450 meters.
The project involves a total investment of €320,000, of which €212,395.29 comes from the Next Generation funds grant.
During his speech, Mayor Pol Cabutí advocated for data sovereignty and its return to citizens, stating that "Data, like water, is a public good. The Administration has the obligation and responsibility to maintain control over it and share it with the citizenry."
Cabutí concluded by highlighting that the initiative represents "More technology, more transparency, and better management of an essential resource." Participation in the Smart City Expo has served to raise the profile of the municipal experience and demonstrate how technology and European funds can improve the management of a vital service like water.
