The Valls Museum has organized two cultural activities, a talk and a guided tour, to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the birth of Fra Josep de la Concepció, a prominent Catalan Baroque architect.

The Valls Museum is expanding its cultural offerings with two new events related to its exhibition on Fra Josep de la Concepció, which will be on display until July 19. These activities are part of the commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the birth of this renowned member of the Discalced Carmelites order, born in Valls in 1626 and considered one of the most significant architects of the Catalan Baroque.
The first event will take place on Tuesday, June 9, at 7:00 PM at the museum itself. It is a talk titled "The designer Fra Josep de la Concepció and architectural design in the Catalan Baroque." The presentation will feature Carme Narváez, a doctor in Art History from the University of Barcelona and curator of the exhibition; Mercè Gras, archivist of the Discalced Carmelites Archive of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands; and Jordi París, director of the Valls Museum.
The second activity, also led by Carme Narváez, will be a guided tour on Saturday, June 13. This excursion, conducted by bus departing from Valls early in the morning, will cover key sites of Fra Josep de la Concepció's architectural legacy in La Selva del Camp, Reus, and Tarragona.
In La Selva del Camp, participants will explore the interior of the church and the Discalced Carmelite convent of Sant Rafael, designed by the Valls-born architect in 1658. In Reus, the chapel of the Santíssim Sagrament at the Prioral de Sant Pere, built in 1688, will be visited. The tour will conclude at the Tarragona Cathedral with a visit to the chapel of the Immaculada, dating from 1673.
