The Cistercian Route Attracts Nearly 600 Visitors This Easter

The Cistercian Route GR 175 recorded 589 visitors during Easter Week, marking a 9.3% increase compared to the previous year and establishing itself as a sustainable tourism option.

The Cistercian Route GR 175 continues to establish itself as a prominent tourist option for sustainably exploring the territories of Alt Camp, Conca de Barberà, and Urgell. During Easter Week, a total of 589 people traversed this path, representing a significant 9.3% increase compared to the previous year.
Data collected by eco-counters installed along the route show that between March 30 and April 6, an average of 73 daily users was reached. Holy Saturday was the day with the highest influx of visitors, highlighting the positive trend of recent years and the route's role as a driver of territorial development.

Of the total users, 403 chose to walk the route, a 4.7% increase from the previous year. Notably, there was a 20.8% increase in the cycle tourism segment, with 186 people using mountain bikes (BTT) and electric bikes (e-BTT). Regarding the direction of travel, 53.8% (317 people) completed the route counter-clockwise, while 46.2% (272 people) did so clockwise.
As an area for improvement, users have pointed out the need to strengthen the network of accommodations and services in certain sections of the route. This observation is crucial for continuing to enhance the competitiveness and quality of the tourist experience offered by the Cistercian Route, which is evolving towards a responsible tourism model with sustainable mobility as its central focus.
