The Gran Festa de la Calçotada de Valls, organized by the Chamber of Commerce, has announced new cultural and digital initiatives, such as the Calçofest and the Calçoapp, aiming to rejuvenate the profile of attendees at the annual gastronomic event.

Among the highlighted novelties is the Calçofest festival, which took place in November, and the launch of the Calçoapp application, a digital tool centralizing information on restaurants, cooked calçot sales points, and bakeries across Catalonia.

"We want all kinds of people; the calçotada is a family affair, but if we rejuvenate it a bit, all the better."

Josep Maria Rovira · President of the Valls Chamber of Commerce
The festival maintains its classic offerings, such as demonstrations of calçot cooking and the sale of 4,000 tastings. One of the highlights is the calçot eating contest, where this year fourteen men and two women will attempt to consume the maximum quantity of this sweet onion in forty-five minutes.
