The Hotel Restaurant Empòrium in Castelló d'Empúries, managed by the Jordà Giró brothers, has been honored with the main runner-up prize in the Aquanaria Revelation Award at Madrid Fusión 2026 for its outstanding sustainability practices.

The restaurant, located in the Empordà region and already holding a Michelin Star and a Green Star, was selected by the jury, composed of the Torres brothers, Verónica Sanz, and Jesús Sánchez, for representing "the authentic spirit of sustainability in the hospitality sector throughout Spain."

"It values our philosophy and way of understanding gastronomy and our environment. It is an award for a story we started building almost twenty years ago as a family, a dream we visualized and are now experiencing."

Màrius and Joan Jordà · Brothers and Empòrium Directors
Brothers Màrius and Joan Jordà collected the award during what they called a "very special day" for the long trajectory of Empòrium, which also holds two Repsol Suns. Furthermore, the prize includes the planting of two native trees in the Canary Islands in the establishment's honor.
The overall winner of the award was Raúl Sánchez Aguirre, from the Tramo restaurant in Madrid. The Jordà Giró family, including parents Salvador and Elena, also celebrates recent recognitions obtained by their other gastronomic venture, the Bistrot 1965, which holds the Bib Gourmand seal.
