The educational community of Palau de Santa Eulàlia has intensified its struggle to keep Les Curculles school open. In a joint statement, the management and the Secretariat of Rural Schools of Catalonia (SERC) denounced that the decision to close the center does not meet pedagogical or demographic criteria.
“"A school cannot be closed without any pedagogical or democratic reason. It is a deep wound for the identity and future of a small village."
The conflict stems from the City Council's refusal to provide the facilities, citing an accumulated deficit and the fact that only two students reside in the village. However, SERC emphasizes that the right to education should not be limited by municipal borders.
