Mayor Esther Marmaneu appeared to detail the municipal management carried out during 2025 and advance the key projects for 2026. Marmaneu, who defined her access to the mayoralty as a “personal challenge,” has prioritized proximity to residents through the Alcaldia Propera (Proximity Mayoralty) tool to facilitate the resolution of doubts and suggestions.
The bulk of the investment, financed by the Diputació (Provincial Council) and the Generalitat (Catalan Government), focuses on the construction of the new medical clinic, valued at 4.5 million euros. This project is already in the bidding phase, and construction is expected to begin around May.
The City Council has transferred three plots of land to the Generalitat, two on Cal Salines avenue and one in La Ràpita, for the construction of up to 28 homes, framed within the 50,000 Homes Plan.
Other significant allocations include 100,000 euros for cultural space improvements, 160,000 euros from the Sports Equipment Shock Plan, and 390,000 euros from the PUOSC. These funds will allow for the remodeling of the Library Park, the expansion towards the República Park, and improvements to sports facilities such as the old track, the Tres Pins track, and the municipal pavilion.
Regarding the 2025 balance, the mayor highlighted the impact of the Dana storm on July 12, which caused serious damage, especially to the pavilion and the road network. She also positively assessed the launch of the new waste collection system, although the Mancomunitat has been asked to be among the last to implement the container locking.
