The political ecosystem of Andorra, known for its precision in appearances, has been disrupted by the activity of Naudi, one of the most visible faces of the General Council. The businessman dedicates his free time to selling imitations of iconic models from brands such as Rolex, Audemars Piguet, or Patek Philippe, which he manufactures himself in a small workshop in the Principality.
“"I have no aspirations to preside over anything, neither the Council nor the Government. If my watches take away my political reputation, I don't care. The problem is that this world is full of envious people."
This practice, which Naudi defines as a 'hobby', has been met with great discomfort in Andorran civil, political, and business society. Sources in the Principality describe the business as a 'reputational suicide', especially considering that the luxury and watchmaking sector is a crucial economic and external image driver for the country.
Carles Naudi, who holds a degree in Business Administration and Management (ADE) and is 49 years old, has been a key figure in Andorran politics since 2011. His party, CC, is the hinge that ensures governability. Furthermore, the Naudi surname was previously linked to a scandal: his relative Càndid Naudi was investigated and detained in 2016 in the money laundering case known as Blood Diamonds.
