The Alt Urgell County Council plenary session approved this Thursday the budget for the 2026 fiscal year, totaling 11,093,539.92 euros.

This figure represents an 8.76% increase compared to the previous year. The growth is mainly driven by extraordinary funds from the Local Cooperation Fund and a 12% rise in Education department contributions, primarily aimed at school canteen grants.
Key investment areas include education (21.95%), social services (17.87%), and rural access (13.12%). Approximately 90% of the total budget is funded by other administrations, with the Generalitat de Catalunya providing nearly 80% of the total income.
Additionally, all political groups unanimously demanded that the new Emergency Region for the Pyrenees be named Alt Pirineu Emergency Region and headquartered in the Alt Urgell county.
