The Government of Catalonia has commissioned Ifercat to update the technical studies for the Transversal Railway Axis (ETF), a major project to connect Lleida and Girona.

The project, first approved in 2010 but halted by the financial crisis, involves a 254-kilometer line crossing 57 municipalities. The update has a budget of 5.46 million euros and a timeframe of 18 months.
Key locations like Igualada, Manresa, and Vic will feature stations on this mixed-use line. Passenger trains are expected to reach speeds of 250 km/h, significantly reducing travel times across the territory.

"If it had been executed two decades ago, many of the problems we currently have in the network would not exist."
