This trend is partly explained by the fact that 52% of Catalans admit spending more than initially planned during the December and January festive period. Choosing reusable items is consolidating as an economical and sustainable alternative to avoid exceeding the budget.
Buying and selling reused products allows Catalan consumers to recover or save an average of more than 130 euros during the holiday season.
Among the most demanded product categories for gifting, books stand out (49%), valued for their cultural and emotional component. They are followed by decoration items (33%) and technology (31%), which remains a classic on wish lists.
Experts from Wallapop point out that this evolution reflects a shift in the consumption model, where second-hand offers the chance to find unique, discontinued, or historical pieces, combining accessibility and creativity. Furthermore, reuse reduces unnecessary waste and has a positive environmental impact.
