The Conselh Generau d’Aran has conducted an emergency intervention at the Sant Fèlix de Vilac church to eradicate a significant infestation of pigeons and other birds that had created unsanitary conditions in the bell tower.

The operation, which lasted approximately one week, allowed for the disinfection of the space, removal of dead animals, and cleaning of accumulated droppings that had rendered the bell tower a hazardous area for human access. The Brigada de Servicis of the Conselh Generau carried out the cleaning.
Concurrently, protective netting has been installed on the facade openings, such as windows and small holes, to prevent future bird entry and avoid recurrence. A thorough deep clean will follow to remove any remaining debris.
The Sant Fèlix de Vilac church is classified as a Local Cultural Heritage Site (BCIL). This intervention is part of the management and protection of the historical and artistic heritage of the Val d’Aran.
The total cost of the intervention, covered by the Conselh Generau, amounted to 10,673.05 euros.
