The Association of Student Families (AFI) at Escola Valldaura in Manresa has been named a finalist for the AFFAC Awards for its successful community festival presenting the school's giant figures during the 2024/25 academic year.

The project, titled 'Community Festival and Presentation of the School’s Giant Figures', is competing in the 'Tothom a l’AFA' category of the awards granted by the Associacions Federades de Famílies d’Alumnes de Catalunya. The initiative was an open and participatory event that brought together children, families, teachers, and various local entities.

The project promotes the active participation of all families, inclusion, community cohesion, and the bond between the school and its environment.

The central moment of the celebration was the presentation of the school's giant figures (gegantons), Cargol Vall and Formiga Daura, festive elements constructed by the infant students as part of an educational project. The event included family workshops and recreational and creative activities.
The festival was supported by several associations, including the Joves Geganters de Manresa, the mothers' group Hamak, and the scout group Antoni Gaudí. The day culminated with a children's fire run (correfoc) by the colla Xàldiga, reinforcing popular culture and local roots.
The AFFAC Awards, celebrating their 14th edition, recognize initiatives that improve educational quality and generate social impact in areas such as inclusion, democracy, and sustainability. The winner will be decided through a jury vote and a popular vote.
