The protest, which began on April 18, 2026, primarily aims to highlight the consequences of potash mining activity. Throughout the night and morning, participants organized various activities, including workshops and talks, to delve into the environmental implications of mining and share experiences of environmental struggle.
Later in the day, a slow march and a direct action at the foot of the Sallent waste dump are planned, marking one of the key points of the protest. Organizers emphasize that despite judicial rulings mandating the restoration of saline waste dumps, these continue to accumulate, accelerating river salinization and severely affecting aquatic ecosystems.
“"The mountains of saline waste dumps continue to accumulate despite judicial rulings that mandate their restoration. They warn that this fact accelerates the salinization of the river, with a direct impact on aquatic ecosystems."
In addition to the environmental issue, the mobilization also seeks to denounce ICL's ties with Israel, while expressing support for the Palestinian people.
