The city of Manresa will host one of the three rounds of the new ACB Champions Cup in March, an inclusive basketball competition designed to promote the integration of people with intellectual disabilities over 16 years old.

This new initiative, presented in Madrid, will feature the participation of 18 teams, one representing each club in the Endesa League. The tournament will be held across three venues: the Alquería del Basket in Valencia (January 17 and 18), the Nou Congost in Manresa in March, and finally Bilbao in May.

"This competition is very important so that everyone can see that people with disabilities also know how to play basketball."

The president of the ACB, Antonio Martín, highlighted during the presentation that this action is part of the ACB Foundation's initiatives and admitted that using basketball as a tool for social transformation was a pending “debt.” The main goal is for participants to compete and, above all, have fun.
The Councilor for Sports and Health of the Manresa City Council, Anjo Valentí, stressed the importance of the event for the city, as it aligns with the values promoted during Manresa European City of Sport 2024. Valentí recalled that sport is a key activity for cohesion and social integration, mentioning the existence of local inclusive teams like La Salle, managed by Ampans.
The main sponsors of the tournament are Banc Mediolanum, Endesa, Toyota, and Pelayo. The teams scheduled to play in Manresa include Baxi Manresa, UCAM Murcia, Barça, Bàsquet Girona, Casademont Zaragoza, and Covirán Granada.
