The Cambrils Tourism Board has launched the Cambrils Galera Challenge Repsol, a new professional cooking contest focused on highlighting the mantis shrimp, with the final scheduled for February 23 at Parc Samà.

This initiative is part of Cambrils' gastronomic promotion strategy, following participation in major fairs like Fitur and Madrid Fusión and the launch of the BOCA seal. The contest, structured in a television format, is open to professionals and aims to find the most creative recipe featuring the mantis shrimp (galera).

"We want to highlight the mantis shrimp as an outstanding and traditional product closely linked to Cambrils' seafood cuisine. And, also, to emphasize the role of the Fishermen's Guild."

Vadim Koryagin · Director of the Cambrils Tourism Board
The final of the Cambrils Galera Challenge Repsol will take place on February 23 at the modernist grounds of Parc Samà. Eight chefs will compete for two hours before a renowned jury, which will be chaired by the acclaimed chef Eduard Xatruch. The deadline for submitting applications is February 2.
The competition offers significant financial prizes thanks to Repsol's sponsorship: 3,000 euros for the winner and 1,000 euros for the runner-up. The third prize will be in kind, provided by the Cooperativa Agrícola de Cambrils. The jury will evaluate the balance, originality, and the use of seasonal produce from the Cambrils local gardens.
