The Department of Territori of the Generalitat has indicated that the completion of the Reus-Cambrils cycle path is delayed, now anticipated for the end of the year. Although the works are "considerably advanced," several tasks remain pending, including the asphalting of a section, signage, and the construction of two crucial overpasses to span the AP-7 motorway and the railway line.
Sources from Territori attribute part of the delay to Endesa's failure to relocate power lines crossing the project's route, a task they claim has been pending for over a year. These sources also mention "improvements and adaptations" introduced during construction as contributing factors.
Endesa, however, offers a different perspective, stating that four files are associated with the adaptation of electrical installations affected by the project. The company points out that some procedures still depend on documentation, permits, or preliminary work to be provided by the project's promoter, such as licenses or access to affected properties. Endesa maintains that coordination is ongoing to act "as soon as the necessary requirements are met."
The third phase of the project, covering 4.4 kilometers from the Aigüesverds urbanization in Reus to the entrance of Cambrils, presents the main challenges, particularly concerning the construction of the two elevated walkways.
Once completed, this infrastructure will finalize a long-demanded cycle corridor, aiming to enhance safety on one of the most problematic road sections between Reus and Cambrils. The first two phases have been operational for approximately two years, funded by significant investments from the Generalitat and the City Council of Reus.
