The Reus City Council reactivates the comprehensive 'Barri a barri' maintenance plan on February 2, 2026, aiming to increase efficiency in improving sidewalks, asphalt, and green areas across the city.

The 'Barri a barri' plan, which will run until next December, is an intensive and coordinated initiative designed to minimize disruption to residents and increase effectiveness. The Councilor for Public Roads, Daniel Marcos, emphasized the importance of this action for urban quality of life.

"Barri a barri is a comprehensive response to the city's needs; an intensive action based on the coordination of all municipal services involved in public road maintenance to make Reus a cleaner, greener, and friendlier city."

Among this year's novelties is the collaboration of the company Reus Transport, which joins the improvement efforts. This entity will specifically take charge of cleaning and maintaining public transport shelters, as well as renewing informative signage to ensure a better condition and functionality of these elements.
The main actions are framed within the Reus 10 Plan and are divided into three areas: public space (asphalt improvement, sidewalk repair, and lighting), cleaning (street washing, container cleaning, and graffiti removal), and green city (pruning, green area maintenance, and vegetation replanting). Coordination between pruning and cleaning tasks has also been improved to reduce inconvenience to residents.
The intervention schedule will begin on February 2 in the Mare Molas neighborhood and will cover all city districts, concluding on December 7 with the Gandhi neighborhood. The previous edition of the plan, in 2025, concluded with a balance of 4,500 actions carried out in 41 neighborhoods, with 1,766 cleaning interventions being the most prominent area.
