The event, titled ‘Patriot Antoni Gaudí: The Truth They Couldn't Hide’, focused on the architect's defense of Catalan national identity and language.
The main lecture was delivered by Aleix Sarri, a political analyst and expert in European affairs. Sarri reviewed key episodes from Gaudí's life that demonstrate his involvement with Catalonia, highlighting his public defense of Catalan during times of cultural repression and his persistence in using it, even before King Alfonso XIII.
The presentation also recalled Gaudí's arrest and imprisonment for his participation in events supporting Catalan culture during the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera.
The day concluded with dramatized readings by the group La Gata Borda. These performances brought to light more human and committed aspects of Gaudí's career, beyond his universally recognized architectural work.
