The complaint centers on the fact that the character of Antoni Gaudí was portrayed speaking Spanish and was occasionally referred to as "Antonio," which Junts describes as an "unacceptable historical and symbolic distortion." The show was organized with the Spanish Skating Federation and the collaboration of the Tarragona Provincial Council (Diputació de Tarragona).

The head of the opposition, Teresa Pallarès, directly pointed to the governing coalition (formed by PSC, ERC, and Ara Reus) for endorsing public events where Catalan is relegated. Pallarès finds it "incomprehensible that in an Any Gaudí event in Reus, Catalan is not the vehicular language and that the figure of Gaudí is even disfigured."
Junts per Reus will raise the issue at the next Municipal Plenary to demand explanations regarding the linguistic criteria applied and the measures to be adopted to ensure Catalan is the vehicular language in all institutional events in the city. The party warns that it will not allow attempts to "Spanishize" the figure of the universal architect from Reus.
