The city of Reus presented its Women's Basketball Capital status on January 27, 2026, at the Municipal Olympic Pavilion, an integral project to promote equality and visibility in women's sports.

Beyond the purely sporting aspect, the capital status aims to become a space for equality, visibility of women's sports, and the promotion and generation of role models among girls and young women.
The Women's Basketball Capital 2026 in Reus is promoted by the Reus City Council and the Catalan Basketball Federation (FCBQ) with the support of the Tarragona Provincial Council. It will be deployed through an integral project structured in various lines of work to generate a future impact on the sports and social community.
Activities include training actions aimed at players, coaches, and referees to improve technique and professionalization. The organization of competitions, high-visibility tournaments, and support for local teams are also planned. The project also focuses on school basketball and intergenerational activities to foster social cohesion and break gender stereotypes.
The presentation ceremony, held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, was attended by the Mayor of Reus, Sandra Guaita; the president of the FCBQ, Ferran Aril; and the Councillor for Health and Sports, Enrique Martín. This FCBQ initiative has been promoted since 2017, with previous capitals including municipalities such as Girona, Manresa, and Igualada.
