The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested two young people, one a minor, in Reus on Monday, accused of making nine false 112 calls and attacking the officers who responded to the alerts.

The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested the two individuals, aged 19 and a minor, in the Gaudí neighborhood of Reus. The fraudulent calls were registered between September 7 and October 20, always during late night or early morning hours.

The telephone warnings reported everything from false assaults and fights to fires, occupations, people causing insecurity in the neighborhood, or even a case of gender violence.

In all cases, the patrols from the Mossos and the Guàrdia Urbana dispatched to the scene were met with the throwing of firecrackers and all kinds of blunt objects. In total, nine false calls were made from the same phone number, and the rest from two different numbers.
Noteworthy incidents include the throwing of half a dozen eggs at officers on October 8 on Avinguda Barcelona, who were responding to a supposed attempted occupation. Just one day later, stones were thrown at a Guàrdia Urbana patrol in Plaça Sagrada Família responding to a false container fire.
The two detainees, who have previous records for property crimes, are being investigated for alleged crimes of public disorder and assault on agents of authority. A woman who was not arrested is also under investigation. The youths were released hours later pending appearance before the judicial authority.
