The Institut Dertosa in Tortosa is celebrating the tenth anniversary of its Erasmus+ exchange with the IGS Sassenburg school in Germany, hosting 17 German students from January 23 to 30 for cultural and academic activities.

The second phase of this year's exchange takes place in Tortosa between January 23 and 30, involving 17 German and 17 Catalan students, accompanied by four teachers. The program combines academic, cultural, and recreational activities, including an institutional reception at the Tortosa City Council by Mayor Mar Lleixà.
Scheduled activities include guided tours of the Modernist architecture in Barcelona, Reus, and Tortosa, as well as visits to Cota Zero de Tortosa and leisure activities such as karting in Calafat and the Aventura de Benifallet park.

"It is quite a milestone, because it is not easy to find reliable and trustworthy partners"

The project, coordinated by Emigdi Subirats, began as a classic exchange funded entirely by families. The major shift occurred in 2023 when Institut Dertosa obtained Erasmus+ accreditation, allowing student mobility at a very symbolic cost and ensuring the collaboration's stability.
The main language of the exchange is English, although students have the opportunity to practice German. This year, the experience includes a strong historical and cultural component, with active participation in the events of January 27, the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, and plans to visit the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp next year.
