The visit of Quim Masferrer to Tivenys, a municipality in Baix Ebre with almost 1,000 inhabitants, had been anticipated for over two years. The host quickly found himself immersed in the historical rivalry with Xerta over the ownership of the weir (assut). Young women Gisela and Carme searched the entire town for Masferrer to demand that he publicly correct the structure's location.
“"You can admire it, but it is ours and always will be."
One of the funniest anecdotes arose when discussing local gossip. The young women explained that, thanks to the town's “cameras,” they could reconstruct any story. Masferrer took a moment to realize they were referring to the neighbors, such as Mari Carmen, who from their balconies “tell what they know and invent what they don't.”
The program also highlighted characters like Mari Carmen, known for organizing incredible trips, such as an excursion to Penyíscola including lunch for only three euros, and Tere, the “crack of Tivenys,” beloved by the entire town for having cared for several generations. The broadcast, which included strange moments like a concert of habaneras in the tobacconist shop, was a resounding success, becoming the third most-watched program in Catalonia on Monday, with 469,000 viewers and a 28% share.
The most emotional moment came at the end, when Quim Masferrer discovered that Miquelet and Cinteta, an elderly couple he met during the very first episode of El Foraster in Benifallet, were the grandparents of a local shop's owners. Despite Miquelet's passing, Masferrer was able to reunite with Cinteta, who now lives in Tivenys, a moment that will remain etched in the viewers' memories.
