The Catalonia Territory Commission launched the process this Tuesday to draft the urban planning that will enable the construction of the future Terres de l'Ebre University Hospital in Tortosa.

The new healthcare facility will be located in the Raval de la Llet Strategic Residential Area (ARE), just 1.5 kilometers from the city center. This site was selected for its excellent connectivity to the C-42, AP-7, and N-340 roads, ensuring access for residents of Baix Ebre, Montsià, Terra Alta, and Ribera d'Ebre.
The project, based on an agreement signed in April 2025 between the Department of Territory and the Tortosa City Council, requires a 8-hectare plot. The planned building will cover 77.000 square meters, including space for healthcare, teaching, and future expansions.
This new reference center will replace the current Verge de la Cinta Hospital. The infrastructure is set to serve over 180,000 inhabitants across 54 municipalities, reinforcing a regional healthcare network alongside hospitals in Móra d'Ebre and Amposta.
