The municipality of Forallac, located in the Baix Empordà region, has been honored with the Restaura Award from the National Crafts Awards for its work in recovering the ancient craft of pitch making.

The recognition, presented at the Palau de la Generalitat, highlights the nearly three-decade dedication of the Forallac Town Council to preserving the historical and cultural heritage of the territory. The ceremony was presided over by President Salvador Illa and attended by Minister Miquel Sàmper, gathering prominent institutional and artisan sector representatives.
This distinction underscores the council's continuous effort to keep collective memory alive and project the knowledge of endangered crafts into the future. Among the most notable initiatives is the revival of the traditional pitch cooking process in Sant Climent de Peralta, an activity resumed last year that helps understand the production of black pitch.

The award solidifies Forallac's position as a benchmark in the recovery of ancient crafts and helps disseminate this work throughout the country.

Forallac Mayor Josep Sala accepted the award on behalf of the municipality, accompanied by council members and craft specialists. The Town Council emphasized that this recognition reaffirms the locality's commitment to culture and traditions, promoting the dissemination of this artisanal legacy.
