The Minister of Culture, Sònia Hernández, participated this Saturday in the closing ceremony of the Year of Garreta at the Monastery of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, honoring the local composer.

The commemoration, spanning 2025 and 2026, marked the 150th anniversary of Juli Garreta's birth. Officials highlighted that the project successfully promoted his work beyond the traditional sardana, showcasing his contribution to symphonic music and prestigious orchestral formations.

According to the project curator, Joaquim Rabaseda, the initiative has led to a significant increase in the performance of Garreta's chamber music. New digital recordings are now available on platforms like Spotify, ensuring the composer's heritage reaches new and younger audiences worldwide.
