The educational community of Sant Feliu de Guíxols joined the general teachers' strike in Catalonia this February 11 to demand better working conditions and increased structural investment.

In an interview with Supermatí, Ana María Tomàs, a music teacher at Escola Ardenya in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, explained the reasons for the protest held across Catalonia. The strike on February 11 denounces the deterioration of teaching staff's working conditions.

"We have normalized many things and this cannot be."

One of the most critical points is classroom overcrowding. Tomàs warned that many schools are losing class lines, concentrating up to 25 children per classroom. According to the teacher, this ratio prevents individualized attention and creates constant stress affecting staff health.
In the Baix Empordà region, the situation is worsened by factors such as housing shortages and high student mobility. These territorial issues make educational work even more complex in municipalities like Sant Feliu de Guíxols.
