The city of Castelldefels has secured 23 Biosphere certifications in March 2026, highlighting the local commitment to sustainable tourism practices across both public and private sectors.

The Biosphere seal, promoted by the Barcelona Provincial Council and the Chamber of Commerce, recognizes destinations that implement responsible environmental policies. This year, Castellbeach Aparthotel joined the list for the first time, while the local beach and the Tourism Office successfully renewed their certifications.
The awards ceremony took place in Gavà, attended by local authorities including Tourism Councilor Guillermo Massana. The initiative aims to ensure that tourism remains economically viable while being socially and environmentally responsible, featuring prominent local businesses like Casanova Beach Club.
Additionally, Castelldefels now hosts 18 Tourist Information Points (PIT). New locations such as the Santa Garota beach bar have joined the network, which is managed by the Baix Llobregat Tourism Consortium to improve the visitor experience through a more inclusive and accessible model.
