The Gavà City Council has launched a major restoration project at Eramprunyà Castle this week, using a helicopter to airlift construction materials to the 9th-century fortress.

Due to the steep and rugged terrain of the Garraf massif, traditional trucks cannot reach the site. This aerial operation successfully delivered scaffolding and equipment to the summit, marking the start of a three-million-euro intervention funded by the European Next Generation program.
The works will focus on consolidating the southern wall and restoring historical spaces such as the arched hall and the ancient cistern. Additionally, the medieval path from the Bruguers chapel will be upgraded with a 250,000 euro budget to improve safety and accessibility for hikers and tourists.
The restoration of this National Cultural Interest site is expected to be completed by May 29, 2026. The project aims to preserve the most significant medieval vestige in the Baix Llobregat region and open new areas for public tours.
