The 2026 season of La Passió d'Olesa de Montserrat officially began this March, drawing nearly 800 spectators to its first performance of the year.

This year's production, directed by Xavier Povill and Pau Povill, features significant updates to the narrative rhythm. The directors have emphasized the roles of Mary Magdalene and the Virgin Mary, aiming to provide more depth to these female characters within the traditional 16th-century origins of the play.

"Each new season provides the opportunity to explore new nuances in the character, working to find the right tone in a text written in verse."

The season will run until May 1st, offering eight performances in total. To accommodate a diverse audience, the show includes simultaneous subtitles in Spanish and English. Mayor Marc Serradó praised the community effort behind this cultural landmark, which has been documented since 1538.
