The public prosecutor has filed a brief opposing Jonathan Andic's defense request to lift precautionary measures, including the return of the one million euro bail. The prosecution believes there are indications against the investigated individual and maintains that the flight risk is high due to his "extremely high economic capacity".
Jonathan Andic is currently out on provisional liberty after posting the bail set by the investigating judge in Martorell. The precautionary measures include the confiscation of his passport and the obligation to report to the court periodically.
According to the prosecution, the analysis of Jonathan Andic's phone's geolocation data, the victim's mobile content, and call records contradict the defense's assertion of a good father-son relationship.
The defense, led by criminal lawyer Cristóbal Martell, had filed an appeal with the Barcelona Court of Appeal. This appeal denied that Jonathan Andic had visited the area where his father, the founder of Mango and Catalonia's wealthiest individual, died shortly after, on three occasions. However, the judicial order highlighted mobile phone locations and traffic camera footage confirming visits on December 7, 8, and 10, 2024, just days before the fall.
The defense also presented images and argued that the father's knee arthritis could have caused the fall. Regarding the disappearance of Jonathan Andic's mobile phone, the defense claims it was stolen during a business trip to Quito, a circumstance the judge suspects occurred "under strange circumstances".
