The El Vendrell City Council launched a new smart waste collection system this Monday in the Sanatori Sector of the Sant Salvador maritime district.

This rollout follows previous implementations in Puig-Pelag and La Muntanyeta. The next phase is scheduled for March 16th in Coma-ruga, where the Brisamar area will specifically adopt a door-to-door collection model for its detached houses.

"We must double our selective collection rate to reach 60% in accordance with EU requirements."

Kenneth Martinez · Mayor of El Vendrell
Mayor Kenneth Martinez emphasized that current recycling levels are around 30%. Increasing this figure is essential to comply with European Union law and prevent rising waste management costs for residents.
To support second-home owners, the council will provide recycling kits and access cards at the Tabaris Building starting Easter, ensuring all residents are prepared for the busy summer season.
