El Vendrell issues 510 fines to VMP users in the first year of the new mobility ordinance

The Local Police has collected 98,500 euros in penalties since the regulation came into force in January 2025.

The El Vendrell Local Police has filed 510 complaints against users of personal mobility vehicles since the new Mobility Ordinance took effect in January 2025.

Since the new Mobility Ordinance came into force in January 2025, the El Vendrell Local Police has registered a total of 510 complaints against drivers of Personal Mobility Vehicles (VMP), such as electric scooters. The total amount of the penalties reaches 98,500 euros.
The most common infractions were riding without a helmet (264 penalties) and circulating through pedestrian areas and sidewalks (112 penalties). These two categories account for the majority of the fines imposed in the municipality of Baix Penedès.

Other reasons for complaints included driving against traffic, negligent driving, using a mobile phone or headphones, not having civil liability insurance, and minors under 14 years old operating the vehicles. The regulation was established through an agreement between the local Government and the Som poble-ERC municipal group.
