The El Vendrell City Council unanimously approved an agreement with the Generalitat de Catalunya this Friday to promote the construction of 30 social housing units on municipal land.

The project involves three plots located on Ramon Llull and Ginebró streets. These sites were incorporated into the Generalitat's Public Land Reserve in March 2024. The plan includes three buildings with approximately ten apartments each.
Construction companies will hold surface rights for 75 years. After this period, the buildings will return to the El Vendrell City Council. This initiative aims to expand the local public housing stock to 50 units in the short term.

"El Vendrell is a high-demand municipality, with housing access issues due to its proximity to Barcelona and its status as a tourist destination."

Kenneth Martínez · Mayor of El Vendrell
