The new reservoir, which will receive water from municipal wells in the Tomoví area, is already finished and will become operational in a few days to ensure supply to the Nou Vendrell area. This area previously relied on smaller capacity cisterns that required constant refilling, especially during the summer season, increasing energy expenditure.
“"It is a way for the entire municipality to receive water in case of any disruption."
In addition to the reservoir, the priority is the interconnection of the networks. The City Council has awarded the work to connect the pipeline from the Tomoví wells (which supplies the historic center) with the pipeline of the Consorci d’Aigües de Tarragona (CAT), which brings water from the Ebre to the beach area. This project has an approximate cost of 600,000 euros.
This interconnection is vital to ensure that, if one network is affected, supply can reach the entire municipality from the other. Mayor Kenneth Martínez also highlighted that the work to renovate the pipeline with the most leaks in the municipality, which comes from the Molí el Blanquillo wells, is about to be awarded. This action will also affect the municipalities of Albinyana and Santa Oliva.
