The organizations stated that they had attempted to meet with the Badalona City Council to study alternatives to the eviction but received no response. They criticize the lack of dialogue and the inaction of the consistory, especially for carrying out the action during the coldest months and amidst intense rain, which severely affects people living on the street.
“"The gestures, decisions, and discourses of the City Council towards people living on the street or in substandard housing demonstrate that there has been no willingness to equip itself with tools to address homelessness in the city."
The Homelessness Table recalls that the City Council abandoned the body in early 2025 and that, previously, on April 29, 2024, it closed Can Bofí Vell, leaving 45 people on the street. According to the latest count in May 2025, the number of people sleeping rough in Badalona was already 110, an increase of 22% compared to 2023.
“"Evicting a space does not solve the problem: it simply displaces it."
Given this situation, the Table considers it unacceptable that Badalona continues to lack night shelters or emergency refuges. They demand the deployment of policies that respond to all forms of residential exclusion, reiterating their willingness to collaborate. Currently, the organizations within the Table have 321 housing places and 27 places in a reception center, all operating at 100% occupancy.
