This growth has been fostered by the efforts of administrations, such as the Beques Propulsió from the Generalitat and the pioneering Casa de la Creació Digital from the Barcelona City Council. Furthermore, platforms like Llista.cat and the Premis Crit, which are celebrating their second edition, have emerged as showcases for digital creation in Catalan.
“"Five years ago, this was science fiction. Now, infrastructure is starting to appear, and we will see the fruits, but initially, it is positive for building a mature, consolidated, and stable market."
Despite the increase in content presence, with 440 daily publications and 2.8 billion annual views, the actual impact on language use among young people is still difficult to assess. In 2025, the number of active accounts and monthly publications remained around 14,000, totaling about 160,000 annually, according to data analyzed by Accent Obert from Llista.cat.
The creator ecosystem is pyramidal, with less than 4% of projects exceeding 100,000 followers and 60% having fewer than 5,000. However, projects with over 20,000 followers account for three out of four views. This structure allows influencers to maintain and consolidate their projects, although dedicating themselves exclusively can be a challenge.
The predominant profile of a Catalan content creator is individual (three out of four), residing in the Principality (87%), and with an emerging profile. They are active, with 13-14 monthly publications, and multi-platform, with a majority presence on Instagram and TikTok. The most popular topics are lifestyle and society, while manga/anime, art, literature, video games, and knowledge are experiencing the most audience growth.
Among the pending challenges are disassociating digital content from the idea that it is only for young people and breaking the dependence on Instagram. The sector also seeks to overcome prejudices about the quality of digital content and connect it with traditional industries such as art, cinema, and books, with strong civil society interest in this interaction.
