A 25-year-old man died this Saturday, February 21, following a motorcycle accident on Nicaragua Street in Barcelona, according to municipal sources.

The incident occurred around 12:30 PM near number 27 of the street. Although the driver was rushed to the hospital in serious condition, he passed away shortly after being admitted. Officers from the Guàrdia Urbana (local police) attended the scene to manage traffic and launch an investigation into the causes of the crash.
This victim marks the third traffic-related death in the Catalan capital so far in 2026. The annual toll includes a cyclist who died on January 9 and a 36-year-old female motorcyclist who lost her life on the Ronda del Litoral on January 19.
Data from the Barcelona City Council confirms that motorcyclists remain one of the most vulnerable groups on the road. In 2025, 11 people died in traffic accidents in the city, including five motorcyclists, five pedestrians, and one cyclist.
