The Mossos d'Esquadra have dismantled a criminal organization involved in several shootings in the La Mina neighborhood, in Sant Adrià de Besòs, concluding an investigation initiated due to violent episodes involving firearms.

The Catalan police reported this Saturday the disbandment of a criminal group responsible for multiple firearm incidents between 2024 and 2026. The investigation began after several public confrontations, characterized by the repeated use of weapons. According to police sources, this is a sustained conflict between two criminal factions with a strong presence in the area.
The last recorded shooting, on April 3, 2026, involved a confrontation with several individuals using firearms. During the inspection of the scene, officers found 16 spent casings. As a result of this incident, two people have been arrested.
In January 2025, the mayor of Sant Adrià had expressed concern about the climate of intimidation in the La Mina neighborhood due to the proliferation of young people with easy access to firearms, and requested strong action from the Mossos d'Esquadra. Days earlier, another shooting between Saturn and Venus streets, near the Parc del Besòs tram stop, had raised significant alarm among authorities.
On May 5, the Catalan police carried out an operation with raids and searches in several apartments in La Mina to locate and arrest the alleged perpetrators. During the searches, three firearms were seized, including two shotguns and a pistol, as well as projectiles, cartridges of various calibers, and bladed weapons.

"The operation has allowed us to break the dynamic of escalating violence detected in this environment and significantly reduce the risk to the population."

The detainees are accused of crimes against law enforcement officers, illegal possession of weapons, threats, and public disorder. The arrested individuals were brought before a judge on May 7. The operation, led by the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC), remains open, and further actions are not ruled out.
